Vietnam has a firm footing as the world's second-largest furniture exporter, surpassing China as the most significant furniture exporter to the US. Vietnam's timber and forest products are exported to over 140 countries and territories, for which the main markets are the US, the EU, Japan, China, and South Korea. These five significant markets account for about 90% of Vietnam's total wood and wood products exports.
Statistics of the General Department of Vietnam Customs show that the country's export turnover of wood and wood products is estimated at 15.8 billion USD in 2022, of which 10.92 billion USD came from timber products, up 6.7% year-on-year. The Vietnam Timber & Forest Products Association stays positive, predicting a 7-9 percent growth of Vietnam's wood industry and an export revenue of $18 billion or more in 2023.
