Solar Power International (SPI) in the top 100 largest trade shows

This September, over 18,000 energy professionals and 650 exhibitors from more than 110 countries will make Las Vegas their home for three days to experience the largest and fastest growing solar trade show in North America.

The annual event, which is powered by the Solar Energy Industries Association (SEIA) and the Smart Electric Power Alliance (SEPA) is the only solar or storage trade show that was honored as a Gold 100 show, an award that recognizes the top100 largest trade shows.The solar trade show gives you the opportunity to collaborate with the entire U.S. solar industry, discover innovations on the show floor from over 600 exhibitors, and create strategies to propel your business state-side.

We have had the opportunity to interview the organizers of the Solar Power International (SPI) and talk about all the novelties, trends and activities we will enjoy during the show.

The trade show presents a multifaceted program with workshops, educational sessions, speakers, and events. Which of the activities do you think are a must for the visitor or which of them do you highlight?

Whether you’re an installer, manufacturer, financier or utility, our conference program offers education for you navigate the U.S. solar market.

We developed a pathway program to help the attendee plan their time at SPI according to their industry segment. If you are an installer, you can find out the education session and exhibitors that are must-sees. In general, our block party is highly anticipated (4 to 5 thousand attend annually).

What novelties have you prepared for this 2017 edition?

The future of the solar industry depends on its ability to integrate with new technologies to complement its strengths. With over 650 exhibiting companies expected, you’ll be surrounded by new technologies and ideas, including smart renewable energy and energy storage that drive your business forward. SPI is co-locating with two events, along with an expanded Smart Energy Microgrid Marketplace.

Some new items you will enjoy are: Energy Storage International (ESI); Hydrogen + Fuel Cells North America; The Technical Symposium, an expanded show floor & show floor education and much more!

  • Energy Storage International is the largest energy storage event in North America. Attendees join to understand the importance of the integration between storage and solar. In addition to drawing some of the biggest players in energy storage, ESI also features an education pavilion on the show floor dedicated to new technology, trends, and analysis of energy storage. Education sessions include (with more to be added soon):

  • Hydrogen + Fuel Cells North America. Exhibitors and leading industry experts will feature a comprehensive forum program, including company presentations and discussions. The connection between the hydrogen technology and solar industry will be explained daily by using an educational exhibit.

  • The Technical Symposium is a brand-new program at SPI, which will offer professionals from the academic, R&D, technical and scientific disciplines in photovoltaics, energy storage and ‘smart’ energy the opportunity to submit abstracts for peer review, presentation and discussion, and publication at the largest gathering of the solar community in North America. As solar, storage, and smart energy continue to mature, we must incorporate the knowledge, experience, and expertise of the best and brightest minds advancing our profession.

Lastly, can you give us some participation results from the last edition?

SPI took place on September 12-15, 2016 in Las Vegas, Nevada, where more than 18,000 attendees, and over 650 exhibitors gather from across the world to bolster the burgeoning solar market.
