SIAO Ouagadougou International Arts and Crafts Fair: the trade show
The idea of creating SIAO was born from the will of the Burkinabe political authorities who realized that crafts contributed strongly to the growth of African economies in the same way as agriculture.
Started with an exhibition selling handicrafts in 1984, the Fair was established in 1990 with the participation of about thirty African countries.
For a better management of the event, the national authorities have provided it with an administrative structure.
Since its establishment, the Salon has been held regularly every two years.
