Learn more about Automotive Digitalisation for Smart Mobility at TU-Automotive Europe

TU-Automotive Europe is a company of automotive digitalisation for smart mobility, and Europe's largest conference and exhibition dedicated to the future of automobility. This year, as always, the event will host great speakers who bring the key trends that will define the future of the automobile and connections with telematics, mobility and autonomy.

We have contacted with the organisers in order of discovering more details, so don't miss our interview and the valuable information you will find on it!

Could you highlight any speaker topic from the programme?

For this year the key speakers to highlight would be the C level speakers from the major European OEMs and the 2 leading mobility companies. There has never been an event in Europe that has brought together the digital leaders from VW, Daimler, BMW, Renault, PSA Groupe, DriveNow and Car2Go and had them all on the same stage talking to the industry about their plans for the future.

Why do you think that we shouldn’t miss this fair?

TU-Automotive Europe has always been a fixture in the automotive technology calendar but now more than ever with connectivity, mobility and autonomy being the main driving forces in our industry it has become unmissable. As consumers, attention has shifted from horsepower and engine size to safety systems, infotainment and even other ownership models it is vital that companies come together to address the challenges faced.

Technology and innovation are the main points of being successful. What are the new trends for this year?

The key new trend that stands out this year is the digitalisation of the industry, with traditional car makers having to compete for their audiences attention against the like of Apple and Google they have had to venture away from being purely mechanically focussed. This has seen them begin to grow their base through digital services such as companion apps, car sharing options and innovative new finance models to ensure they stay relevant.

We can see a lot of famous brands in the exhibition. How would you encourage other companies to exhibit at your fair?

There are indeed a number of incredibly well-known brands already present in the exhibition, and the simple answer for why others should join them is that this is the one place this year in Europe where they can meet all of the automotive decision makers in one place and learn and network alongside them. Those companies that you already know of and that are doing well are doing so in part because of the relationships they have built up through events and networking and the deals they have signed on the expo floor.

Why is Germany one of the favourite places for Automotive companies?

Germany is a fantastic place for the automotive industry, obviously, it has the heritage and legacy there with VW, Mercedes Benz, BMW, Porsche and others which has meant that for over a hundred years some of the greatest minds in automotive have flocked to this country. Couple this history with a newly burgeoning tech and start-up scene, with Berlin being a particular hub of new companies, and you have the perfect melting pot to drive an old, and potentially slow moving, industry into a successful future.

What is the benefit of connecting the auto industry with the digital revolution?

The auto industry and the digital revolution are made for each other and without connecting the two the current automotive leaders run a great risk of being superseded by new upstart tech first automakers such as Tesla. It is only through bringing the auto industry up to date and digitalising as many of the systems and processes as possible that we can truly enable a future where autonomous cars are the prevalent or only form of transport; where private ownership of vehicles is a relic and the number of cars has dropped tenfold; and where electric drivetrains have completely replaced internal combustion leading to greener cities.

Lastly, can you give us some participation results from the last edition?

Last year saw over 1,000 people on site with over 40% of the attendees being Director level and above and the complete automotive value chain represented at the event.
