Tour & Taxis

Constructed around 1903 according to the plans of architect Van Humbeek, the Sheds of the Tour & Taxis were first used for merchandise in transit. The building is the most remarcable on the site from a technical point of view. It is covered by an astonishing self-supported metallic frame of 17,000 m2, meaning that it has no intermediate supports. This impressive roof in the form of a saw-blade disperses natural light evenly. This veritable work of art of civic engineering is today used for the organization of fairs, exhibitions, and events.
