Royal manufacture of the XVIII century, the Saltworks of Arc and Senans was conceived by the famous architect visionary, Claude-Nicolas Ledoux. Today classified world inheritance of UNESCO, it is a single testimony in the history of the industrial architecture.
The Royal Saltworks are from now on a center devoted to the reflexion on the city which accomodates permanent exposures and regular animations. Temporary exposures illustrate a topic each year renewed, in 2002 wood, 2003 the design and 2004 the color and the light. 2005 will be with the Royal Saltworks one year devoted to photography and the ethnic gardens.
