Ifema Feria de Madrid, Av Partenón, , Madrid (España)

IFEMA has secured its position as a symbol of Madrid's business scene and an exponent of the economic vigour boasted by Spain and the region alike. A sharp upward trend, which has lead the Institution to double its level of activity over the last five years, confirms its domestic leadership and its place amongst Europe's major players.

Feria de Madrid opened its doors in 1980 and continues to be piloted by its four founding members the Madrid Regional Government, the Madrid City Council, the Madrid Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Caja Madrid Savings Bank the chief executives of which form IFEMA¹s governing body.

IFEMA¹s exhibition facilities, enlarged and improved in recent times, stand out as one of the Institution¹s differentiating factors. The same applies to its team of professionals, the cornerstone of a management model that is characterised by a high level of efficiency and the capacity for providing services of contrasted quality.

The Juan Carlos I Exhibition Centre officially inaugurated its newly enlarged facilities in April 2002, renovating its status as a major landmark on the international trade fair map. The site features 150,000 square metres of covered exhibition area spread over ten exhibition halls, as well as the plethora of spaces and facilities that is needed for conducting exhibition activities in an optimal way: a singular office complex that includes a fully equipped meeting area and an auditorium for 600 persons; 14,000 parking places; numerous and diversified catering services; extensive entryways and inner and outer roadways; logistic and technical facilities; financial organisations and service providersŠ as well as a spectacular, 10,000-square-metre convention centre located over the new North Entrance.

The new site stands out for its functional design and technological features, which, in operational terms, positions it at Europe¹s forefront and allows usage and performance levels that are way above the European average.

Feria de Madrid¹s new dimension and its numerous permanent improvement projects enable the institution to ensure its growth trend from the quality viewpoint and to focus on its further development, fundamentally in the international sphere. To this effect, it is important to highlight that around 50% of the more than 70 trade fairs that make up IFEMA¹s permanent calendar are of an international character as officially recognised by the Spanish Secretary of State for Trade and Tourism and are members of the Union of International Fairs (UFI). Further support for achieving these targets is the expansion of IFEMA¹s network of branches and representatives throughout the world¹s major nations, a network that accounts for 36 bureaux of which ten operate exclusively for the Institution.

All of this has allowed Feria de Madrid to tally up an annual total of 1.1 million square metres of net exhibition space, with the participation of 37,000 exhibitors and the attendance of nearly four million visitors, of which 1.5 million are trade visitors. These figures have raised the Institution¹s annual turnover to over € 130 million, with net results of around € 15 million, shaping a framework of financial stability that ensures appropriate investment levels for all of the Institution¹s future projects.

FEMA¹s activities are strongly backed by new technologies, from the twin viewpoint of management support securing higher quality standards in the services rendered to exhibitors and visitors and information and communication, as reflected in the new trade-fair portals on the Internet or the electronic information points deployed at fairs.

Feria de Madrid was honoured with one of the first quality labels awarded by MADRID EXCELENTE, a distinguishing mark that serves to acknowledge an organisation¹s commitment to a given managerial model and a service vocation fully aimed at satisfying customers¹ needs.
