ECIO: the trade show
In order to cater to the growing number of interventionalists involved in oncology, the CIRSE Foundation organised the first biennial European Conference on Interventional Oncology in 2008 in Florence, Italy. It was a great success; the scientific content, the quality of the presentations and the overall number of delegates who attended the meeting exceeded all expectations.
To satisfy the growth one of the fastest growing fields of medicine, in 2012, ECIO went from a biennial event to an annual fixture in the interventional radiological and oncological calendar. By making ECIO an annual event, CIRSE endeavoured to support the advancement of interventional oncology as respected treatment options in oncology.
Today, ECIO welcomes over 1,300 delegates from all over the globe to cutting-edge conferences, held in and around Europe. Thanks to CIRSE’s Collaborating Against Cancer Initiatives, delegates are able to bring their non-radiologist colleagues at no extra cost and a travel grant: establishing ECIO as a truly multidisciplinary conference. The European Conference on Interventional Oncology is therefore becoming the beacon for a more modern and collaborative way of treating cancer patients.
