Milano will be hosting one of the most important summits about agrifood this 6th to 9th of May. Here some advance of what is coming to this 2019 edition.

What novelties have you prepared for this 2019 edition?

The growing appeal of TUTTOFOOD 2019 is also due to its new areas. TUTTOWINE is an original and innovative format that will present business opportunities, specifically in the wine sector, to a target audience of Italian and international professionals in a dedicated area organised in partnership with the UIV – Italian Wine Union. Digital transformation will also be under the spotlight thanks to TUTTODIGITAL. The event where start-ups will showcase innovative technologies in terms of e-commerce platforms, apps, and cutting-edge services.

New areas will also be dedicated to specific nutritional habits, such as TUTTOHALAL and TUTTOKOSHER, while Retail Plaza, the innovative retail arena, is re-proposed in a more articulated format, with workshops, conferences, in-store events, and round tables, to give a voice to the exhibition market alongside to Italian and international retailers, with data partner Nielsen and various mass retail partners, including Amazon, Carrefour, Gruppo Végé, Eataly, Easy Coop, Iper, Unes with Il Viaggiator Goloso and Metro.

The event presents a multifaceted programme with workshops at TuttoFood and special events. Which of the activities do you think are a must for the visitor or which of them do you highlight?

TUTTOFOOD is also the ideal place to compare experiences, analyse market trends and understand the evolution of consumption and buying patterns through the organization of targeted workshops, seminars, conferences, meetings and events.

As always, there will be a significant focus on training, information and professional growth, with themed Academies for various different sectors, including, Multi-Product, HoReCa, Meat & Cured Meat and Dairy. Moreover, TUTTOFOOD will be one of Milano Food City’s main partners in 2019; the week dedicated to top-notch food will take place simultaneously alongside the fair.

Three international airports give a choice between intercontinental, international, domestic and low-cost flights. The metro and suburban rail connects the city centre and the main train station directly with the Exhibition Centre through a dedicated station, where long-distance and high-speed trains also call on the occasion of trade exhibitions. The Centre is also is easy to reach by car from some 4 motorways.Visitors from outside the European Union should check prior to planning their trip whether or not a visa is required to access the EU from their origin country. As to business etiquette, the Italian business style is practical yet relaxed. A flexibility up to 15 minutes is considered acceptable for a business date, so don’t get mad if your counterpart doesn’t show up at the exact time –and it is quite common to close negotiations during a fine lunch or dinner.

Can you give us some participation results from the last edition? How many visitors attend? from how many different nationalities were present?

More than 80,000 visitors from 141 countries attended in 2017, 23% were from abroad.

Lastly, regarding the exhibitor, how many stand exhibitors participate in the last edition? In total how many different countries where participating?

Almost 2,900 exhibitors participated in 2017, of which 21% international from 40 countries, with a 10 percent increase in terms of internationality compared to the previous edition. The top 10 most represented countries were Spain, France, Germany, China, Greece, the Netherlands, Austria, Croatia, Slovenia and S Korea. As of today, approximately 2,000 exhibitors from over 40 countries all over the world have already registered for TUTTOFOOD 2019, including Austria, Belgium, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Egypt, France, Germany, Greece, Hong Kong, Hungary, Indonesia, Ireland, South Korea, Lithuania, the Netherlands, Peru, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Spain, Sri Lanka, Switzerland, Taiwan, Turkey, the UK and the USA. The USA Pavilion, in particular, has received the official endorsement of the US Department of Agriculture. TUTTOFOOD thus becomes the first, and currently the only, USDA-certified agro-food event in Italy.
Furthermore, exhibitors from the following countries are in the process of being registered: Argentina, Brazil, Canada, China, Croatia, Ecuador, Japan, India, Kosovo, Morocco, Mexico, Poland, Russia, Slovenia, Tunisia and Vietnam.
