Cebit 2008: Cebit Global Conference & European Congress on Web 2.0

Whether in customer service, quality management or the establishment of company-wide information management, Web 2.0 technologies and social software such as wikis, blogs and podcasts can improve general communication and the use of knowledge, thus helping companies become more flexible and innovative. The use of Web 2.0 solutions substantially improves internal data flow, intra-departmental collaboration and the coordination of different operational functions. User-friendly interfaces and interac­tive applications are crucial here as they facilitate the networking of personnel and workstations and are invaluable in the documentation process. Enhancing the flow of information effectively improves performance and hence competitiveness.  
One concrete example is the customer centre of Société Française de Radiotéléphone (SFR Service Client), where use of wiki software made it possible to achieve vast improvements in terms of both the quality and volume of the information handled. Similarly spectacular results were experienced by Fraport AG, another best-practice example to be presented at the Enterprise 2.0 Summit. Wieland Stützel (head of Information Management, Fraport AG) will explain how using wiki made it possible for Fraport employees to access and document information about the company and topics relevant to air-freight business. There will also be a report from Motorola A/S which will demonstrate how Enterprise 2.0 projects revolutionized information management within the company by introducing its use in small departmental projects. The introduction of new methods of information management are seen as complementary rather than a substitution for customary information and process management procedures. Other best-practice examples such as BASF AG, the BBC (British Broadcasting Corporation) and the Vodafone Group complete the program of the first Enterprise 2.0 Summit at CeBIT.
